Privacy Policy
The short version: inLie has no server that stores your data — it runs in your browser.
Your Claude (Anthropic) API key never leaves your device except to go straight to Anthropic. The developer never receives, transmits, or stores your key.
inLie only acts on YouTube video pages, and only when you press Watch or Analyse.
What is processed, and where it goes
| Data | Where it's stored / sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your Claude API key | Your device only (browser extension storage); sent directly to api.anthropic.com over HTTPS on each request | To run the analysis on your own Anthropic account |
| The video's transcript | Sent to Anthropic (with your key) and fetched via inLie's transcript service | To detect manipulation tactics in the speech |
| The YouTube video ID | Sent to the transcript service | To fetch the transcript for the current video |
| Detection settings | Your device only | To remember your preferences |
| Analysis history | Your device only — findings, verdict, and cost for your 10 most recently analysed videos; never transmitted anywhere | So reopening a video restores its ledger and never re-bills analysed speech |
What is never collected
- No account, no login, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers.
- No data is sold or shared beyond the two processors named below.
- Nothing is retained server-side by inLie. The only retained data is the on-device history above — yours to clear.
Third-party processing
- Anthropic (Claude API). When you analyse, transcript text goes to Anthropic, authenticated with your own key, governed by Anthropic's policies and your agreement with them.
- Transcript service (Cloudflare Worker). Receives only the video ID, so the transcript-provider key isn't shipped in the extension.
Your controls
- Remove your API key any time in Settings — "Remove key & reset" also wipes the analysis history.
- Uninstalling inLie clears all locally stored data, including the history.
- inLie runs only on youtube.com, and analyses only when you explicitly start it.
Children's privacy
inLie is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone. It analyses public political video content; it has no accounts, profiles, or age-gated features.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version ships with the extension update and the date above changes. Material changes will be called out in the extension's changelog.
